President and vice-president of the European Logistics Association (ELA), Paolo Bisogni and Jos Marinus, visited the central distribution center of the company NELT in Dobanovci on May 22. Since the mission of the ELA organization is to promote the logistics profession and supply chain management, the visit was based on familiarising the senior representatives of the Association with the logistics capacities of NELT.
Representatives of the company NELT presented to their guests the operating processes, technological improvements which the company has introduced, functioning of the integrated logistics services system and advantages it brings to the stakeholders.
Special attention was dedicated to presentation of the Intermodal terminal, which started its operations in December 2016 and which was opened for all market participants in import, transit and export transactions.
Bisogni and Marinus expressed their agreement with Intermodal transport being synonymous with economical, efficient and environmentally sustainable global movement of all types of commodities. Ivan Milićević, NELT LSP manager of operations and development, stressed that with the new set of logistical services which is initiated through activation of the intermodal terminal, the clients are able to reduce their logistical costs but also to have a faster, more secure and better quality transport service.
As a reminder, regular weekly railway transport of containers in import and export on the port of Rijeka-NELT Dobanovci route was the first of services which the company NELT placed at the market’s disposal. Starting from May, a regular line Piraeus – NELT Dobanovci was initiated by the company COSCO. Also the importance of geographic position was emphasized since the NELT terminal is connected by railway with all European ports and land terminals. Highways E-75 and E-70 intersect at a distance of six kilometres from the terminal and the airport Nikola Tesla is ten kilometres away. Within the NELT logistics centre there is a customs office with storage facilities, which enables full support and flexibility in various processes and commodity flows.
